Satisfaction and Disatisfaction!

How do you get satisfaction from your job when the admin work sucks to the core?

For me, just a simple and sincere thanks from my candidate is nice enough, its as if as its worth any price. That just keeps me going to help out more people who are in the need for a job to keep a living.

Somehow there are just some black sheep who are not sincere in looking for a job and not turning up for interviews.

Unfortunately to some, due to color; are devoid of a chance to get a job which it shouldn't happen in the meritocratic society like Singapore. That makes our work even challenging. Imagine having to filter them away when you know that they have an equal right for employment as well.

Talk about employment rights, there's so many contract staff out there in Singapore, up to more than 15% in the workforce are under contract or project basis which means that the staff are usually devoid of their medical benefits besides the casual AL and occasional OT remuneration. That also means that employers are free to choose who they like to work with and who to extend for their employee's contract. There's no such iron rice bowl nowadays, even when you are in the government sector, they would still offer you with the dreaded 1 to 2 year contract and most of the time, it's non-renewable (all depends).

You would say that signing on to the uniformed service might be a good choice after all but for what I know, early withdrawal from the 6th year of the contract might end you up with nothing, no gratuity as such. So it would be a rude reality check for them to know that the work experience achieved in the uniformed service isn't relevant work experience in the outside world after all. They might just find it difficult to fit in to the corporate environment out there.

This was what happened to my candidates who were demoralized during the process of applying for jobs; sending of endless resumes, facing the rejections and such. Sometimes, I would ask them if they would consider going back to the uniformed service, but still many were reluctant. For they knew that if they did, they would find it hard to survive in the corporate jungle once they are out from the service again.
